For months the Usthi schools in India had to close because of Covid-19. During this time, however, teaching activities did not stand still. The lessons were recorded on video and sent to the pupils’ mobile phones.
It was a challenging year for our project partners and staff. But this did not stop them from ensuring access to a good education. They looked for contactless ways to distribute worksheets and supported the pupils in telephone conversations whenever possible.
And they continued to teach. The lessons were held regularly, recorded on video and, if possible, sent to the children and teenagers by Whatsapp. Since not all children have a mobile phone, they join together in small learning groups as far as the situation allows and thus work on the material together.
In the video you can see a motivated teacher of the Penthakata School teaching a lesson about light.
