How we work

SUSTAINABILITY

Usthi has been working with local partners since the beginning, as they know the context very well. We also work exclusively with local employees, as it is important to us to create local jobs with our projects and to provide further training for local people. Local initiatives can co-finance the projects.

In Bhubaneswar, the capital of Odishas, our local partner has been operating a modern hospital since 2001. It offers high-quality medical care combined with good care for the inhabitants of the megacity. In terms of economic sustainability, the Usthi Hospital serves as a mainstay for the Indian partner’s self-financing. The profit of the hospital goes to the projects of the Ananda and Penthakata School.

Our partner in Hyderabad operates a textile processing centre where school uniforms, shirts and other goods are produced on behalf. This social business venture offers jobs for graduates of the professional skills trainings and covers a small part of the costs of the training.

MONITORING AND EVALUATION

We are in continuous exchange with our project partners and receive regular updates on the course of the project. In monthly Skype meetings, activities are discussed and the next steps are planned. Problems are identified early and can be solved immediately.

The annual budget is prepared on site by the Usthi team with the participation of the project partner. The financial control of the annual budget is carried out by Usthi on a quarterly basis. The support funds are transferred in four transfers per year. Once a year, the project is evaluated and its effectiveness checked.
