Earthquake

Immediately after the severe earthquake in Sikkim in September 2011, Usthi launched an emergency relief project and distributed blankets, tarpaulins for emergency shelters, kerosene stoves, cooking utensils and medicines in the affected regions. Our local partner’s team of volunteers coordinated its activities with government institutions and made an extremely efficient contribution. After the immediate emergency aid was completed, Usthi participated in the reconstruction: We were able to build a new home for three families who had lost everything in this natural disaster and were also in a difficult social situation.
