Usthi has been active in the education sector in India and Nepal since 1977. Over the years, five projects have been successfully completed and handed over to local management.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

2006 TO 2025: THADDEUS SCHOOL<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2006, Usthi founded the first English school in the region, located in the village of Bhastara, with the aim of improving access to quality education for disadvantaged children. Thaddeus School began with 45 students in rented facilities. In 2009, the school was able to move into its newly constructed building. Today, it serves more than 200 students, offering education from nursery through to the completion of secondary school (10th grade). By the end of 2025, Usthi had fully transferred responsibility for the school\u2019s operations and funding to its local partner organisation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

2006 TO 2015: SHANGRI-LA ORPHANAGE<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Usthi was temporarily involved in the Shangri-La education project in Kathmandu, run by a German aid organisation supporting orphaned children. Its contributions included assisting school graduates in entering the job market, supporting the development of solar infrastructure, and helping to construct a school building in Jumla, western Nepal. In 2015, Usthi concluded its collaboration with the German aid organisation and focused on new projects.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

2006 TO 2014: KOLAR SCHOOL<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2006, Usthi assumed financial responsibility for the Kolar School, located 100 km east of Bengaluru. As student enrollment increased, the demand for additional classroom space grew. As a result, land was purchased and a two-storey school building was constructed. The Kolar School, east of Bengaluru, reached its final expansion with 480 pupils and was fully handed over to the local partner organisation in 2014, which continues to operate it today. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

2006 TO 2008: AMBOTH TANDA SCHOOL<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beginning in 2006, Usthi supported a preschool project in Amboth Tanda, located 60 km southeast of Hyderabad, through a local partnership. The school had been established by a charity led by an Indian businessman living in Switzerland. After three years of temporary financial support, Usthi concluded its involvement while maintaining an exchange of knowledge and experience with the organisation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1977 TO 2005: BHOR-E-PHOOL SCHOOL IN USTHI<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first Usthi school, \u2018Bhor-e-Phool\u2019 (The Morning Flower), was established in 1977 in the village of Usthi, south of Kolkata. More than just a school, it functioned as a comprehensive community centre. Alongside education, the project included a farm and farm shop, which provided both income and food. A nursery and a health centre for children and villagers were also established. Over time, Usthi evolved into a centre for education, healthcare, agriculture and crafts. After almost 30 years of operation, the project was completed and handed over to local responsibility.
