Usthi has been active in the healthcare sector in India since 1984. Since then, its projects in Dakshindari have been successfully completed and handed over to local responsibility.
1996 TO 2006: DAKSHINDARI, KOLKATA
Children’s hospital: In 1996, Usthi took over responsibility for a children’s hospital with an outpatient clinic in the Dakshindari district of Kolkata. Usthi renovated the facility and trained mobile health workers. In 2006, responsibility for both the outpatient clinic and the 40-bed children’s hospital was handed over to the City of Kolkata.
Infrastructure project: Between 2001 and 2004, Usthi implemented a comprehensive infrastructure project in the Dakshindari district. This included improvements to the drinking water supply as well as the construction of sanitation facilities, sewer systems, and children’s playgrounds. The completed project was then handed over to the city authorities.
